Binding is the step you cannot undo, so we check before we punch.

Spiral or soft binding?

Spiral binding opens flat on a desk, and pages can be added later by re-binding. It is the usual choice for college projects and anything you will read from while working.

Soft binding glues the pages into a spine, like a paperback. It looks more finished and is what many universities ask for on a final thesis. Check your department’s submission rules before choosing.

What to laminate, and what not to

Laminate things that get handled a lot: ID cards, price lists, charts and menus. Think twice before laminating original certificates or marksheets. Some offices will not accept a laminated original, because it hides security features. Laminate a copy and keep the original in a plastic folder instead.
